Legal & Care Guidelines
Terms & Conditions
The Appliance Guy Rentals — Last updated February 2026
Please read these terms carefully. By renting from us, you agree to follow these guidelines to keep your appliance in great condition and ensure a smooth rental experience for everyone.
1. Rental Agreement
- By renting a washing machine from The Appliance Guy Rentals, you agree to the terms outlined in this document.
- The appliance remains the property of The Appliance Guy Rentals at all times.
- Rental agreements run on a rolling monthly basis and can be cancelled with 30 days written notice.
- The renter is responsible for the safe keeping and proper use of the appliance during the rental period.
- Any damage caused by misuse, neglect, or failure to follow care instructions will result in a charge to the renter. Repair or replacement costs will be assessed and invoiced accordingly.
2. Filter Maintenance (Required)
- The pump filter must be cleaned every 1–3 months or more frequently if the machine is used heavily.
- To clean the filter: locate the small access panel at the bottom front of the machine, place a towel and small bowl underneath, slowly unscrew the filter cap to drain residual water, remove and rinse the filter under running water, and refit securely.
- Failure to clean the filter regularly can result in drainage issues, bad odours, and machine damage — any repair costs resulting from a blocked filter will be the responsibility of the renter.
- The door seal (rubber gasket) must be wiped dry after every wash to prevent mould and mildew build-up.
- The detergent drawer should be removed and rinsed monthly to prevent residue blockages.
3. Drum & Detergent Care
- Only use detergent and fabric softener specifically designed for washing machines. Do not use washing up liquid or other household cleaners.
- Do not overfill the detergent drawer — use the recommended amount as stated on the detergent packaging.
- Run a 60°C drum clean cycle at least once per month using a washing machine cleaning tablet (e.g. Dettol Washing Machine Cleaner) to prevent bacteria and odour build-up.
- Do not leave wet laundry sitting in the drum for extended periods, as this encourages mould growth.
- Leave the door slightly ajar after each wash to allow the drum to air dry and prevent musty smells.
4. Ventilation & Placement
- The washing machine must be installed in a well-ventilated area with adequate airflow around the unit.
- Ensure there is at least 5cm of clearance behind the machine for the hose and ventilation.
- The machine must not be placed in a location where it is exposed to freezing temperatures.
- Do not stack items on top of the washing machine or obstruct the control panel.
- The machine must remain on the level surface it was installed on. Do not attempt to move it without contacting us first.
5. Maintenance & Repairs
- The Appliance Guy Rentals will cover all repairs due to mechanical or electrical faults at no cost to the renter.
- Repairs caused by misuse, overloading, or failure to follow the maintenance schedule outlined here will be charged to the renter. Charges will reflect the cost of parts and labour.
- Do not attempt to repair the machine yourself or allow an unauthorised third party to carry out repairs.
- In the event of a fault, contact us within 48 hours. Do not continue to use a machine that is showing signs of malfunction.
- We aim to respond to all repair requests within 2 business days.
6. Prohibited Uses
- Do not wash items containing flammable materials, chemicals, or solvents.
- Do not overload the drum beyond the machine's rated capacity (clearly labelled on the machine).
- Do not wash rugs, mats with rubber backing, or large items not suitable for a domestic washing machine.
- Do not use the machine if hoses appear damaged or water connections are loose — contact us immediately.
- The machine must not be sublet, loaned, or used by anyone outside of the property it was installed at.
7. End of Rental
- Upon cancellation, the machine must be made available for collection in a clean and undamaged condition.
- Please ensure the filter is cleaned and the drum is empty prior to collection.
- Any accessories provided (e.g. transit bolts, hoses) must be returned with the machine.
- If the machine is returned in an unacceptable condition, a cleaning or damage fee may be applied.
- We will arrange a convenient collection time within 7 days of the rental end date.
